Soft tissue grafts are able to restore the gum line to a more pleasing
shape. This technique may be needed due to the damage done from gum
disease, trauma to the gums, or as an adjunct to implant placement. Gum
restoration not only makes a dramatic difference in the smile, it can also
reduce tooth sensitivity, prevent additional gum recession and bone loss,
and improve some speech impediments.
We perform sub epithelial connective tissue grafts and dermal matrix
grafts due to the beautiful, predictable results and minimal patient
discomfort. During the procedure, underlying tissue in the roof of the
mouth is gently harvested. The removed tissue is then slipped under
existing gum tissue in the treatment area and anchored with sutures.
Unlike older procedures, the newer advanced techniques Dr. Lamberts
uses promote rapid healing with minimal or no discomfort and superior
esthetic results with better smile lines.
